Classic Wine Tasting Weekend featuring the best of Australia/New Zealand and the Finest Europe has to offer
21-23 November 2008

Come and enjoy a fun, entertaining and enjoyable weekend of Wine and Food Appreciation in the stunning setting of the Ouse Bridge House on Bassenthwaite Lake. You will enjoy Katie’s welcoming hospitality, Stephen's excellent authentic food and learn about wine with professional experienced wine educator Martin Ward from Wine Educators International.

This weekend will focus on demonstrating the differences between classic grape varieties from both the Old and New World.

Friday night will explore the wines of Australia and New Zealand, which have dramatically grown in sophistication and quality from the glut of cheap wine, which seems so prevalent in the UK. You will be shown the breadth and diversity of Australian and New Zealand wine, exploring the effect of the cooler climates of New Zealand to the sun drenched vines of Australia as well as the different wine making styles across the region. You will also have the opportunity to taste some excellent wines from the top wine makers across both countries.

Saturday will be a grand tour of some of Europe’s finest vineyards featuring many of the classic grape varieties demonstrated the previous evening, illuminating what makes the wines produced so different to those produced in the New World. You will be given an insight into the impact European wine making has had on the rest of the world and taste some of the best Europe has to offer. Throughout the tasting and dinner you will have the opportunity to improve your understanding and knowledge of the classic wine regions of Europe, show the regions in the Old World where you can still get value for money on great wines and also explore some of the up coming regions.

Both days will feature a themed dinner – New World on Friday and Old World on Saturday providing the opportunity to experience first hand how the different wines compliment different food. There will also be plenty of guidance on where to buy the wines demonstrated.
